Her birthplace was Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza was her birth name. Gerina Stevenson has Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). She is Mexican-American by heritage but an American nationality. She has always been an avid sportsperson. Gerina took up golf when she was just age 15. Gerina completed her high school education through Goddard High School. In high school, she won in the New Mexico golf state tournament. A volleyball player, she was also a participant in state tournaments. 2003was the year she started studying in the University of Texas. She took home all the competitions she participated in during her senior year. In her undergraduate time, she was awarded the Conference USA Individual Champion Player of the Year and UTEP Female Athlete of the year.
