Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following her one year stay at the University. She auditioned for it in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. The show she played in 92 performances received acclaim from Canadian theater critics. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory, which accepts only eight men as well as four female students to take a course in traditional theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor got a confirmed slot for the following season, and was offered the part as Hermia.
